About the New Monthly Note Limit for Simple Gmail Notes
Introduction
Starting April 1, 2026, Simple Gmail Notes will introduce a monthly note limit for users on the free tier. Free users will be able to create up to 50 new notes every month, with the quota resetting on the first day of each month. Paid subscribers will continue to enjoy unlimited note creation.
Why We Are Introducing a Limit
Since we launched 10 years ago, our user base has grown significantly, and so has the effort required for development and support. Because Simple Gmail Notes is a daily-use productivity tool, even slight changes to the Gmail UI or protocols can cause issues that require immediate fixes.
For a decade, we have prioritized fast, reliable support to ensure your workflow is never interrupted. However, with less than 1% of our total users currently subscribed, this level of dedicated support has become difficult to sustain. We faced a tough choice: either reduce the speed of our product support or encourage more subscriptions. We have decided to choose the latter to ensure the long-term health and stability of the product.
Why 50 Notes?
Our data shows that the vast majority of our users create fewer than 50 notes per month. By setting the limit here, we ensure that casual users can continue to use the product for free, while those who rely on it heavily for professional work are asked to help support the tool's ongoing maintenance.
How the Limit Works
- Monthly Reset: Your quota of 50 notes resets on the 1st of every month.
- Editing vs. Creating: We only count the creation of new notes. Editing an existing note does not count toward your monthly limit.
- Viewing & Deleting: If you reach the limit, you can still view and edit all your old notes.
- Legacy Notes Safety: All notes created before April 2026 are fully protected. They will not be deleted, they will remain searchable, and they do not count toward your new monthly limit.
Paid user (Subscribers) remain completely unlimited. We thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep Simple Gmail Notes reliable for another 10 years.
